Borneo 2004 In order to break from the tedium of a Melbourne winter, we decided to embark on an adventure through the jungles of darkest Borneo - facing headhunters, wild animals and independent malitia. Then this idea fell through, so we ended up at a Five-Star resort, the Shangri-La Rasa Ria, on the island of Borneo. We also spent two nights in the capital of malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Due to bandwidth constrictions, these photos have been split onto three pages. You are currently on The Hotel.
The Hotel The Wilderness The Towns Damnit, this photo was supposed to be in the hotel section! Well i'm not moving it now... This is the beach notice. Off to market... Random shot of market place - Note the myriad of rolex's, Oakleys and wallets. Detail of the second tower. Note the intricate metal work on every floor Yeehaa! I must say, I was initially concerned about the tackyness of these buildings, but in my expert opinion they are one of the nicest looking buildings that i have so far visited. And I've seen a lot of buildings. I know we are supposed to pretend the late World Trade Centers were brilliant, but they are unoriginal and basic compared to these (taller) architectual marvels. Wallpaper! Website manager attempting a serious pose in front of a seriously tall building(s), but only managing to look likea cumbersome frootloop of a tourist. This is the tower that I went up. Woopie doo.
AND FINALLY.... The hole I stepped directly into, nearly breaking my leg and leaving me with a nasty graze (of, on the bright side, a difficult practical excercise to test my medical knowledge) Yuck! I don't know what that guff is, but it didn't feel to good to step into.
