Borneo 2004 In order to break from the tedium of a Melbourne winter, we decided to embark on an adventure through the jungles of darkest Borneo - facing headhunters, wild animals and independent malitia. Then this idea fell through, so we ended up at a Five-Star resort, the Shangri-La Rasa Ria, on the island of Borneo. We also spent two nights in the capital of malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Due to bandwidth constrictions, these photos have been split onto three pages. You are currently on The Hotel.
The Hotel The Wilderness The Towns
This is the island we went scuba diving from... Nice beach, the serenity of which was TOTALLY ruined by me, in a bout of crass immaturity, bursting from the water, kicking around in full SCUBA gear, yelling "I found a Nemo!!!" Same island, different digital filter... called "tungsten" or something, picks out the colour of the palm well, but makes the rest of the landscape look like a large glow stick spilt everywhere. Wallpaper too! A creeping fig tree or something, exposure was all over the place on this photo, the tree is actually really really big, it looks titchy here. This is a nice kinda bland pic from the top of a hill, which we did a nature walk around. Untouched wilderness.... except for the tractor tracks across the beach. Click it for a wallpaper anyway. View from the hotel lobby. Nice, huh, I wonder how many orang utans died felling the trees to give this view. The Congo..... Not quite, but a view of a large river from the freeway. |
